This and That...

Conferences: I'm looking forward to meeting with my fifth grade Reading and ELA parents on Monday and Tuesday!  This weekend, ask your children to predict what I might have to say about their performance.  It will be interesting to compare!
Social Studies students will have a lot of time to work on their time line projects on those early release days.  They analyzed their strenths and weaknesses from their flipbook projects, so they should know how to improve.  They are due Wednesday.  Thursday is their chapter 2 test.
There will be lots and lots of benchmark/interim testing next week.  Please make every effort possible to be here each day.
Tonight:  Disco Night!  Be there!
October 16: Family Technology and Math Night!  Don't miss it!
Science Fair Club Members:  We will have our first meeting on Thursday, October 4, 7:40 am in my room.
Have a wonderful weekend!

So much drama!

Our class learned that one of the causes of the civil war was the tariff law on imported goods.  Four girls wrote a musical about the hammer industry during that time and the impact of the tariff.  They made playbills, tickets, song sheets, and had full costumes!  Way to go girls! What great initiative!

4th Grade Reading

Our class is comparing and contrasting "The Swimming Hole" and "Lou Gehrig."  Homework tonight is to finish the graphic organizer.  They will use their completed graphic organizers to make a poster tomorrow which will be a test grade!
Students should also be recording their reading minutes at home each night on their reading calendar!

Social Studies

Here is Drew's set up of the Battle of Gettysburg.  You should know how long the battle lasted, who won and why the Union (blue) soldiers are up on the books.  How did the Union soldiers being "up on the books" impact the outcome of the battle?  Make sure you know where Gettysburg is and where Vicksburg is!
The Chapter 2 test is tomorrow.  I know you're ready, but study hard tonight!
