SS Homework
Tonight's homework is to finish labeling and coloring your map, and do WB pages 99, 100, 101 and 103. They are short fast pages. Have a great night!
4th Grade AC Reading
Tomorrow we will be starting a new whole class novel study on the book Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper. I think the kids are really going to love it. A few have already read it, but will be fine to read it again and analyze it in-depth with the whole class. Be sure to ask your child about it!

5th Grade Gifted Social Studies
We are happy to welcome several new FOCUS students to our SS and Science classes! In SS we cover one lesson each day, sometimes two! We move very quickly! If you have to schedule appointments, please try to make them from 12:00 - 2:00 so the students can be back for class! Missing a day means missing a lot of brand new information! If a student does miss, they are responsible for reading the lesson and teaching themselves the new content. We will have a test on Chapter 9 vocabulary on Monday, March 18. Study all the highlighted vocab in the chapter and all the vocab on your nightly homework sheets. We will have a test on Chapters 9 and 10 on Thursday, March 21.

Writing Contest 5th Grade
Annette Eager "All Children Are Gifts" Scholarship Award: $500.
"But it's no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then."
Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland
Alice reminds us that we are different people every day. Hopefully, we are better than we were the day before. Think about how you have overcome obstacles and accomplished things that perhaps you didn't think possible at the start. Tell about how you have become different one day than you were the day before! Or, share an inspirational message about an educator that helped you to change and reach your true potential.
(Submit typed essays, 300 words or less, no more than two per school)
Deadline for submission is April 3, 2013. Have to Mrs. Upchurch by Thursday, March 28.
