SS Update

ALL SS students, regardless of which group you are in, will take a "States and Capitals" test on Wednesday, May 15.  Each student has been given a three page study guide.  One page is suitable for cutting out and manipulating like a puzzle.  Another page has all the states and capitals listed.  A third page is a blank map of the U.S.  If you can, please make several copies of this page before you write on it.  Once you feel you have studies sufficiently, try labeling this map as practice.  The test will be two parts.  The first part will filling in a blank map with the names of states.  The second part will be matching the state to the capital.  I have previously posted two links to a song and to another printable map.  Please study nightly!  If you study by regions, you will be successful.  Commit to studying one region per night.  Work hard!

All 5th Grade FOCUS SS students will be tested on their knowledge of all the capitals and states before the end of school. They will also have to label a blank map with all the states.  Please start studying now!

SS Update!

My current SS students will have a test on both chapters 9 and 10 on Friday, April 19.  Due to the pep rally scheduled for tomorrow, there will not be a day to review.  With that in mind, it will be an open book test, but they still need to study!  Since Friday is normally our FOCUS day, we will have two days of FOCUS next week on both Thursday and Friday.
Next week we will cover, but not test, all of Chapters 11 and 12. We will be going over it very quickly so that all concepts are taught prior to the CRCT. 

Stock Market Game Results

The Stock Market Game is officially over.  We competed against 377 teams in our region including high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools.  Our students really learned a lot and had a lot of fun in the process.  The three top earning teams were as follows:

Team 3497 (Aubrey, Jonathan, Anna Marie and Caroline) 67th place!
Team 3493 (Kara, Drew, Sarah, Ian and Owen) 129th place!
Team 3498 (Matthew, Bang, Nicole and Leila) 155th place!

The rest of our teams finished as follows:

5th Grade SS

There will be a vocabulary test on Chapter 9 words on Friday, April 5.

5th Grade Word Masters

Our fifth word is "innocuous"  due on Thursday 4/4.  We will have a test on all five words on Friday, 4/5.
