Thank you so much to all the parents who came in for conferences this week!  I really enjoyed meeting with all of you. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful group of students and parents!

Thank you also for all the book donations for our classroom. The students get so excited when we get new books.  I really appreciate your generosity!

Tomorrow is the last day to send in donations for our PTA auction basket.

Writing Breakfast Club will meet Monday and Tuesday morning of next week.  The BIG test is Wednesday. I am feeling great about it...the children are READY!

I will be at the Gwinnett Science Fair all day tomorrow with our school winners.  I KNOW I will get a wonderful report from the substitute.  Have a wonderful Friday and enjoy the weekend.

Friday Folders are full! Please go through them carefully. There is a lot of very important information including a letter about the Writing Test on March 5th and  the Hull MS parent meeting on April 16.

The Writing Breakfast Club will meet Monday, February 24, Tuesday, February 25. Also, Monday, March 3 and Tuesday, March 4.

Please send in items for our Spring Fling Auction Basket. Our theme is Manicures, Pedicures and Hairdos! Any beauty related items or gift certificates would  be greatly appreciated!

Parent conferences are next week.  Please make sure you have signed up for a conference.

The Book Fair is next week.  Your child can shop on their Media Center day.  Parents can also shop before or after conferences.  Each teacher has a Wish Bag filled with books if you would like to choose one to purchase and donate to our classroom.

Breakfast Club

Our first Writing Breakfast Club was great this morning!  We had ten children attend!  Thank you so much to the parents who got up early to bring their children to school.  If your child attended, please ask them to show you the booklet I gave them.  Please go over it carefully with your child.  I hope to see many more students on Monday morning!

My homeroom (or past SS students) will have a chapter 8 classwork grade tomorrow.  They need to know the definitions of all the vocabulary from chapter 8.  These words are all highlighted and defined in their homework assignments which should be in their SS notebooks.

My past SS class needs to study their vocabulary from chapter 8. There will be a class work grade one morning this week to replace the vocabulary quiz they did poorly on last week.  Make sure you are ready!

So no school again tomorrow! I miss you guys. If you're watching too much TV or playing too many video games, please practice your writing! Here are some prompts to choose from:

Do you think we should have school tomorrow? (Friday, Valentine's Day)  Write a persuasive letter to our superintendent Mr. Wilbanks convincing him of your point of view. Be very specific! Write deeply!

Write a story about something fun you did during our snow break.

We have been out of school for several days now. Write an informational essay explaining why students in the south can't go to school when it's icy and snowy, but students in the north can. Use lots of specific details.

We will celebrate Valentine's Day on Monday, so bring your Valentines! Hopefully you all got pink class lists  the week I was out.

Hi, kids! I was really looking forward to seeing all of you today, but the bad weather got in the way. I hope you have all been doing well!  I graded your formal writings that you did with Mrs. Madert on Thursday and Friday. They were really good!!  Please check the portal for your grades. 32 of you "exceeded" expectations and 15 of you "met" expectations.  A few students were absent. 

In a few minutes I am going to post some practice work. If you find yourself looking for something to do, please practice your writing. Your " time to shine" is March 5!

I wanted to make all the parents aware that I will be out of school February 6, 7 and 10.  I am having minor surgery tomorrow.  I'll be here in the mornings on the 11th, 12th and 13th.  I can't miss that writing time with the kiddos; the March 5 Writing Test is just around the corner!  I will be here for the full day on February 14.  Mrs. Madert will be their substitute for the entire absence.  They will be in very good hands!

SS Chapter 8 test is Monday, February 10.
