States and Capitals

I showed the students some very fun apps for learning states and capitals and state placement.  There are lots of great free apps and some are only a dollar or two.  Please encourage your child to find some of these apps and study hard!

I also gave each child the words to Wakko's song about the states and capitals.  It has search directions on the sheets.

Old fashioned flash cards and puzzles work well, too!

The test is May 12!

Updates

The students did well today!  One day down, four to go!  Tonight:  STUDY the ELA section of the CRCT study packet.  Review any questions you missed today.  Make notes, flashcards, etc.  Be ready!

Eat well and sleep well tonight!

CRCT Homework

Tomorrow is the big day...the READING portion of the CRCT.  Each child has a CRCT study packet with them.  They need to study the READING portion tonight.  They have two reading passages that are stapled separately, not in the packet.  Please review the reading portion of the packet with them.  Have them read the two passages and answer the 10 corresponding reading questions.  Thank you so much for reviewing nightly with your child.  They are well prepared and I know they'll shine!

Thank you to all the parents who are sending in drinks and snacks each day for our after test break!  We really appreciate it!

Updates

Writing scores are in!  We did an amazing job!  Every single student in our homeroom passed!  Each child has a sticky note with their score on it.  You will be getting an official letter from the school with their score on it in the next Friday Folder.  They are really excited about how well they did!  Please celebrate their success this weekend!  Starting with a blank page and turning it into something thoughtful and beautiful is really quite a difficult task! Hurray for  Burnette's 5th Grade!

Please try to get good sleep this weekend.  Sleep deprivation carries over into the whole week, and next week is a BIG WEEK!  The CRCT starts Wednesday morning.  DO NOT BE LATE!  We start testing at 8:55.

Year End Slide Show

END of the YEAR SLIDE SHOW
It is a 5th grade tradition to have an End of the Year slide show for 5th grade students that will be shown during the 5th grade promotional ceremony.  Therefore, it's time to start looking through your child's school related pictures.  Please submit 2- 3 (no more than 3 pictures) SCHOOL RELATED pictures that you/your child would like to have included in the slide show.  Please email the pictures if at all possible.  If you cannot, someone here at the school will scan them, but that is very time consuming. Thank you so much for your help with this.  It's going to be a wonderful program!

Field Day

Field Day is scheduled for Tuesday, May 13

Grades 3 - 5: 12:40 - 3:20

Our lunch that day will be 11:05 - 11:30

Mark your calendars!

Happy Friday!

Friday folders have some very important information in them today.  Please look for a letter from Mrs. King regarding the CRCT dates and times.  Mid-term reports are also in the folders.  Please encourage your child to finish the year strong and keep putting forth their best effort!

There is also a permission slip for a Novel Study of  The Book Thief.  Please read it, sign it, and return to school Monday so your child may begin reading the book.  It's a wonderful book, but the movie is PG 13, so I felt a permission slip was necessary.  I am not showing the movie; we are just reading the book.

Have a wonderful weekend!
