5th Grade Reading and ELA

Students are in the middle of a long term reading assignment.  Each student should be finishing a fiction novel.  They have been practicing "close reading" and should be filling out a "notice & note" graphic organizer as they read.  Their books should be finished and graphic organizers complete when they return to school on Tuesday, January 23.  The graphic organizers will be returned to them after I grade them and then they will use that information to write a paper.  Please make sure they are finishing their book and graphic organizer this weekend.  Thank you for your support!

FOCUS 5th Grade

5th Graders should be researching and discussing with their parents, stocks that they would like to purchase.  We will be entering the Stock Market Game soon.  Please take this opportunity to talk about the economy with your child.

Science Fair Club

Final projects are due Tuesday, January 22.  We will meet on Tuesday at 7:40 in my room to share our boards.  Formal judging will take place Tuesday after school.  Students will not stay for that.  They will see the winners when they arrive at school Wednesday. 

You can purchase the boards at Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Staples, Office Depot or Office Max. 
Tape runners, glue dots, glue sticks, paper cutters, etc. can also be purchased at the above stores. No tape should show on a board and cutting should be neat.

5th Grade ELA

Make sure you have your novel with you tomorrow.  You will be reading and making notes for your paper.  We will  be noting "signposts" as we read.  Your book and notes must be complete by Tuesday, January 22. I will let you know the due date for the paper as we progress.
